Muse HR: What is a Performance Conversation?
In many companies, the start of the year is when we want to review past performance and KPI followed by setting new goals for the new year.
An important area is to ask your team to do their own self assessment and compare with your (manager) assessment. Both must be open to review the gaps and reasons and get a calibrated understanding to build capabilities together.
It's important to have a good performance conversation with your teams. Make your conversation an open dialogue with proven facts and data to support your case. Always end the meeting on a positive note.
Your employee should at the end of the performance conversation think that they can do better. You want them to feel accountable for metrics and committed to meeting their goals.
